Loup and Union Pacific offer employee resource groups (ERGs) to support diversity and inclusion, promoting an environment where all team members can realize their full potential. These groups are making a difference, helping to raise cultural awareness, positively impact business objectives, improve creativity and innovation, build relationships, and foster professional development throughout the company and the communities we serve.

BRIDGES was established in 2013 and works to attract, retain, and develop the careers of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) employees at Union Pacific and Loup. The vision is to foster inclusion and acceptance of employees who identify as LGBT, as well as allies. BRIDGES events, networking and education initiatives increase awareness and understanding regarding LGBT issues. Through training, coaching, and mentoring, BRIDGES develops employees and creates leaders.

David Black, Director - Carrier Relations at Loup, has been involved with BRIDGES since its inception and currently serves as president of the group.

“Personally, I am incredibly proud to be employed by an organization that puts words into action, fostering an environment where all employees, not just LGBT+ colleagues, can bring their whole selves to work,” David said.

Not only has BRIDGES and Union Pacific impacted David’s personal life, but also his life in the workplace.

“Professionally, I’m proud of the work BRIDGES has done, in coordination with company leaders, to firmly place Union Pacific and Loup as an industry leader in LGBT+ corporate equality efforts.”

BRIDGES has a membership of several hundred employees across the Union Pacific organization. It is powered not just by employees who identity as LGBTQ+, but by passionate allies, employees, friends, parents, and many others, who share BRIDGES commitment to the equality-focused mission.

At Loup, we are proud to have our employees engaged in groups like BRIDGES and understand the importance of creating a safe and comfortable environment where employees can come to work as their authentic selves.
